The First Lady Of Blizzard's Huntmore, Anna Margaret Jacobs, often chides her husband Eric for his obsessive, perfectionist approach to gun dog breeding and performance. However, Miss Anna is not without opinions herself. She was, after all, chosen by both Toby and Bleu as their "Person" and tirelessly championed both of them. Today, it's Mia, from the Noe family's Shoeleather line of Blizzard Llewellins. As usual, Anna is extremely clear-eyed in her appraisal of grouse dog prospects; she picked Mia from photos sent for our consideration.
That's why when a classy, finely made belton female was born earlier this year to Parker and Dixie, Anna didn't hesitate. She saw that puppy for a "mini-Mia"; in fact, she was named as an echo when Anna dubbed her "Gia."
To nobody's surprise, Gia is doing a good job for our friend Robert Mastandrea up in Illinois, a fella who knows his way around gun dogs and walking shooting dog trials. "Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours," Bob writes. "Even though my male pup is getting bigger than Gia, she harasses him non stop until she spots birds then forgets all else and goes after them. She is all anybody would want in a bird dog. At night she curls up with me on my easy chair. Great pup."
